Itinerary

Day 1

On arrival, meet your local guide for coach transfer to Stockholm where you are booked for four-nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

Your flight with Scandinavian Airlines departs Dublin airport at 11:50 and arrives Stockholm airport 15:30 (please note that flight times are subject to change at airlines discretion).

Afternoon arrival in Stockholm and transfer to the 4-star Hotel Clarion Stockholm, located in the heart of the city and close to the Old Town (Gamla Stan).

Three-course welcome dinner in the hotel.

Clarion Hotel® Stockholm is located on Södermalm – a district famous for its large selection of restaurants, bars, shopping and galleries and within walking distance of the Old Town. The hotel has a spa – Elements Spa, the Eatery Social restaurant with two bars and a vibrant Living Room. Skanstull metro station is just 50 metres from the hotel, only four stops from Stockholm's central station and the city.

Day 2

On this your first morning in Stockholm, you will enjoy a guided tour of the city. Stockholm is built on 14 islands around one of Europe's best-preserved medieval city centres. See the major sights including the Cathedral, the City Hall, home of the Nobel Prize banquet, and the magnificent Royal Palace. In the Old Town, the tour will continue on foot to allow you experience the narrow alleys, cobbled streets and gabled buildings.

During the tour you will visit the famous City Hall, built in national romantic style between 1911 and 1923, and now one of Sweden's foremost buildings in the city.  Behind the imposing facades, built with 8 million bricks are found offices, meeting rooms and banqueting halls. In the Blue Hall, the building's largest hall, the Nobel Prize Banquet takes place on the 10th of December every year.

Dinner will be served at the hotel restaurant. After dinner, transfer to the Royal Swedish Opera House for the evening performance of Aida. Seats for the performance are in the Stalls area (Row 11 and 12). Duration: approx. 3 hours with one interval. Performed in Italian with Swedish subtitles.

Day 3

Today we take a boat cruise to visit the stunning Drottningholm Palace where today’s Royal Family have their residence. Here you will experience a historic milieu of the highest international standards. Drottningholm Palace is on UNESCO's World Heritage list. Built in the 1600’s, it is the most well-preserved royal castle in Sweden and is representative of all European architecture for that period. The rooms in the southern wing of the palace are reserved for the Royal Family. The rest of the palace and grounds are open to the public year round. Not to be missed is the Drottningholm Palace Theatre,  the best preserved eighteenth-century theatre in Europe and one of the few which still uses its original stage machinery.

After the visit you continue to Sigtuna, the oldest preserved city in Sweden, founded in the 980th. Located north of Stockholm is Sigtuna. Sigtuna is best known for the stone ruins of St. Olaf’s, St. Lawrence’s and St. Peter’s medieval churches. St. Mary’s Church, built by Dominican friars, still stands in the center. Stora Gatan, said to be Sweden’s oldest main street, dates back to the time of 10th-century King Erik the Victorious. Today it’s full of shops and restaurants in traditional wooden houses in striking different colours.

Day 4

Today, you have the morning and afternoon free for independent sightseeing. In the late afternoon, coach transfer with your local guide to Stockholm airport for your return flight. Flight departs at 18:10 and arrives Dublin 19:55 (please note that flight times are subject to change at airlines discretion).
