You will spend three nights in Szeged, to see this unspolit region of Hungary, home to historic buildings, famous statues and the river Tisza. We stay one night in the enchanting city of Budapest, with its beautiful palaces and castles. See the city sights on a city tour as you are chauffeured along Budapest's elegant boulevards to Heroes’ Square, across the mighty Danube and up to Gellert Hill. Look out over the famous river dividing Buda and Pest - the two sides linked by the Chain and Elizabeth Bridges. Visit the Castle District and enjoy the amazing views from the Fisherman’s Bastion over the exquisite Parliament building, one of the largest in Europe. We also visit the historical towns of Visegrad and Szentendre, located outside Budapest.

Day 1

Your tour will start with a morning flight to Budapest.  Flight departs Dublin at 5:55 and arrives Budapest at 09:50.  On arrival in Budapest, meet your local guide for coach transfer to Szeged for a three-night stay in the 4* Art Hotel Szeged. 

Located in the heart of the city, the Art Hotel Szeged is just 100 m from the Votive Church and 181 m from the biggest shopping street. The River Tisza is just a 2-minute walk away The Art Hotel Szeged’s restaurant offers Hungarian and French cuisine.  À la carte breakfast is served each morning and the hotel lobby bar awaits you with a welcoming drink.

We have dinner this evening in the hotel restaurant.

Day 2

This morning after breakfast, you will join your local guide for walking tour of Szeged. Explore Hungray’s third largest city and lesser visited city and see the beauty of this area.

You will pass by Széchenyi Square, see its famous statues, City Hall, the Bridge of Sights, Stefánia with the Szeged National Theatre, statue of Empress Elisabeth, statue of Pista Dankó, walk the bank of the Tisza river with the Remains of the fortress, Móra Ferenc Museum, see the statue of Gyula Juhász, Palánk (Serbian Church), Dóm Square with the Votive Church, Saint Demetrius Tower, National Pantheon and Musical clock, Dugonics Square with the statue of András Dugonics and stop in for cake and coffee.

The tour will end with lunch in typical Hungarian restaurant. Evening is at your leisure.

Day 3

Today, you have the day at leisure for independent sightseeing. In the evening, meet your fellow travellers for dinner in the Roosevelt Teri Halaszcarda restaurant, a traditional Hungarian restaurant, for per-performance dinner.

Day 4

Buffet breakfast and check out. We depart from Szeged and drive to Budapest where we stay for one night in the 4* Hotel President centrally located next to the Hungarian National Bank and the Chamber of Commerce.

It offers a rooftop terrace with panoramic views and a wellness center (extra charge). We start the day in Budapest with a two-course lunch in one of Budapest’s local restaurants. This afternoon, see all the key sites with your local guide, including the Margaret Bridge, the House of Parliament, the Royal Castle, Fisherman's Bastion, and much more. Afterwards check into your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 5

Buffet breakfast in hotel and check-out. This morning, discover Hungary's history as you take a guided tour of the Danube bend towns.

The first stop is Visegrád, a small, riverside village and the former sight of one of the most sumptuous royal palaces built in Hungary. Here, you will take a brief pause from sightseeing to enjoy lunch in the Renaissance Restaurant.

Afterward you’ll head to Szentendre, known for its museums, galleries and artists. Here, your guide will lead you on a walk through the town and to the Caprice Hungarian Jewelry Center. There you can marvel at the pieces on display while learning about the manufacturing process Evening at leisure. We then transfer back to Budapest for the return flight. Flight departs at 21:40 (flight times subject to change at airlines discretion).
