Day Day 1 Title

Your tour will start with a morning flight to Budapest. (flight times to be advised). On arrival in Budapest, meet your local guide and transfer to the 4* Hotel Nemzeti Budapest MGallery where you will stay for five-nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Your hotel:

Day 2

This morning, join your local guide for a guided city tour of Budapest. Budapest is Hungary’s capital and largest city with a population in excess of 1.7 million residents. The city’s primary allure is the beautiful Danube River as it gracefully meanders its way through the city. The twin cities of Buda, built around the hilltop fortress and Pest, were fought over through the centuries until the 17th century ousting of the Ottomans. One of the legacies of Turkish rule is the many thermal baths located throughout the city giving Budapest the apt name “City of the Spas”. See all the main attractions including Hereos Square, St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Synagogue and the beautiful Castle District. Your tour includes a guided visit of the Hungarian Parliament Building, located on the river Danube and one of Budapest’s most famous landmarks. The story behind the building of this great structure is fascinating. The parliament was built between 1885 and 1902 along the Danube and was, for a time, the largest parliamentary building in the world. With 691 rooms and staircases stretching for more than 12 miles (20 kilometers), the building is topped by a dome that sits 226 feet (69 meters) high in the sky. Your forty-five minute guided tour will explore the buildings impressive interior, including the Session Room and the Great Vaulted Hall. Explore this monumental building as you learn about Hungary’s parliamentary policies. In the evening transfer to the Palace of the Arts for your first Wagner performance – Das Rheingold. Wagner: Das Rheingold - A music drama in four scenes (German-language performance, with projected subtitles in Hungarian) featuring the Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra and Choir. Performance start time: 18:00 Duration: 3 hours After the performance, transfer to the Trofea Grill Restaurant for a post-performance buffet dinner. Coach transfer back to hotel at the end of the evening.

Day 3

This morning, discover Hungary’s history as you take a guided tour of the Danube bend towns.  The first stop is Visegrád, a small, riverside village and the former sight of one of the most sumptuous royal palaces built in Hungary. Here, you will take a brief pause from sightseeing to enjoy a 3-course lunch in the Renaissance Restaurant. Afterward you’ll head to Szentendre, known for its museums, galleries and artists.  Here, your guide will lead you on a walk through the town and to the Caprice Hungarian Jewelry Center. There you can marvel at the pieces on display while learning about the manufacturing process. Return to the hotel in the afternoon for a brief rest and afterwards coach transfer to the Palace of the Arts for your second Wagner performance – Die Walküre.                                         

Wagner: Die Walküre - A music drama in three acts (German-language performance, withprojected subtitles in Hungarian) featuring the Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra and Choir. Performance start time: 16:00 Duration: 6 hours, with two breaks of 50 and 60 minutes each.  A snack and drink will be provided during the first break. After the performance, transfer to the Bor La Bor for a post-performance dinner. Coach transfer back to hotel at the end of the evening.

Day 4

Today, you have a free day for independent sightseeing or perhaps take the time to simply relax and unwind. Spend your free time enjoying the city sights, indulging in some shopping or enjoying famous Budapest Spas. In the evening, transfer to the Palace of the Arts for your third Wagner performance – Siegfried. Wagner: Siegfried - A music drama in three acts (German-language performance, with projected subtitles in Hungarian) featuring the Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra and Choir (choir director: Zoltán Pad) Performance start time: 16:00 Duration: 6 hours, with two breaks of 50 and 60 minutes each. A snack and drink will be provided during the first break. After the performance, transfer to the Vak Varju Restaurant for a post-performance dinner. Coach transfer back to hotel at the end of the evening.

Day 5

Today, you have free day for independent sightseeing. In the evening, transfer to the Palace of the Arts for your final Wagner performance. Götterdämmerung - A music drama in three acts (German-language performance, with projected subtitles in Hungarian) with the Hungarian Radio Choir (chorus master: Zoltán Pad) and Budapest Studio Choir (chorus master: Kálmán Strausz) Performance start time: 16:00 Duration: 6 hours, with two breaks of 50 and 60 minutes each. A snack and drink will be provided during the first break. After the performance, transfer to the Season Bistro Restaurant for a post-performance dinner. Coach transfer back to hotel at the end of the evening.

Day 6

Today, meet your local guide for coach transfer to airport for return flight (flight time to be advised).
