The Ring in Leipzig, departing 30 April 2019

Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung

Indulge yourself in Wagner‘s Ring Cycle in in the composer’s birthplace, Leipzig and enjoy a a day excursion to Dresden.  Leipzig lies at the heart of the classical music tradition: Wagner was born here, Mendelssohn died here and Bach spent nearly three decades as Kapellmeister at the Thomaskirche.  It is hardly surprising, therefore, that Leipzig plays host to the magnificant Der Ring des Nibelungen.

Glorious music performed in the fampus Leipzig Opera House. The Ring Cycle represents one of the Wagner’s greatest achievements and it holds a truly special place in the hearts and minds of music lovers. We add cultural visits in and around Leipzig including a Sightseeing Tour and a visit to the Grassi Museum of Historical Instruments.

You will also enjoy a day in Dresden, a stunningly beautiful city, sitting majestically astride the stately waters of the River Elbe. The city rose to artistic prominence during the early 18th century when August the Strong, ruler of Poland and Saxony, gathered many of the Europe’s best musicians, architects and artists to his capital. Indeed, many of Wagner’s works were first performed here, whilst Canaletto captured Dresden for posterity on numerous occasions, from many different views. Its pre-eminence as a center for art, classical music, culture and science saw the emergence of fine Renaissance, Baroque and Classical buildings, the majority of which – though destroyed by the allied bombings of 1945 – have been wonderfully restored in recent years, returning Dresden to its stunning former glory in probably the world’s most remarkable restoration.

Experience the the incomparable, Der Ring des Nibelungen, in Leipzig. A once in a lifetime Musical thrill.
