Itinerary

Day 1

Your tour will start with a flight to Venice. (flight times subject to be advised). On arrival in Venice, meet your local guide for private boat transfer to the 4* Hotel Continental where you booked for three-nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Your hotel: 4* Hotel Continental The Hotel Continental is located in a 15th-century historic building right on the Grand Canal offering stunning views with a central location. The bedrooms feature elegant décor and parquet floors. Staying at Hotel Continental means you have easy access around Venice with the Vaporetto (water bus) stop only a few meters away. Remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2

Today, discover Venice on our half day walking tour visiting Venice’s most historic buildings. Learn about the history of the mighty maritime republic as you explore the famous monuments of St. Mark's Square with your guide, visiting St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace and the Teatro La Fenice. See the rich ornamentation and artwork inside St. Mark’s Basilica, then follow in the footsteps of Venice’s powerful doges in a sumptuous masterpiece of Venetian Gothic design and finally learn the inner workings of the Teatro La Fenice. Private boat transfer back to your hotel at the end of the tour. The tour will approximately 6 hours in total with a break for refreshments (at own expense). In the early evening, a three-course pre-opera dinner will be served in your hotel. After dinner, private boat transfer to the Opera House with your local guide to attend the evening performance of ‘La Traviata’ in the Teatro La Fenice (with category A seats in stalls, row 1-3. Performance details: 7pm: La Traviata at the Teatro La Fenice “La Traviata” is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi set to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave. It is based on “La dame aux Camélias” (1852), a play adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, fils. The opera was originally titled Violetta, after the main character. It was first performed on 6 March 1853 at the La Fenice opera house in Venice. Piave and Verdi wanted to follow Dumas in giving the opera a contemporary setting, but the authorities at La Fenice insisted that it be set in the past, "c. 1700". It was not until the 1880s that the composer and librettist’s original wishes were carried out and "realistic" productions were staged. Return to the hotel with your local guide at the end of the evening.

Day 3

This morning, explore the famous islands of the Venice lagoon on a half-day islands excursion. Watch master glass blowers at work at a factory on Murano, shop for lace and admire the wonderfully painted houses on Burano. This tour is a great introduction to the magical islands of the Venetian lagoon. Duration is approximately 5 hours. The remainder for the day you are free to explore as you wish. Perhaps take a stroll around Venice’s cobbled streets, enjoy a coffee in the main square watching the world go by, do some shopping or just simply relax - the choice is yours.

Day 4

Meet your local guide for coach transfer to airport for return flight.

Booking Deposit

Booking deposit is €500 pp. Balance is due 10 weeks prior to departure date. No credit card charge on deposit payments.

Luggage

One standard piece of hand luggage is included in your tour price. (10 kilos). Checked in luggage is available to purchase prior to travel, prices may vary. Please note this must be booked with a minimum of 14 days prior to travel. Bags booked within 14 days prior to travel will incur an administration fee of €25 per piece.

Passport

It is your responsibility to ensure your passport will be valid for your holiday. Please contact IFC should you have any queries regarding your passport.

The opera house reserves the right to change the advertised arrangements of any performance in the event of illness or any cause beyond their control. This includes non-appearance of any named artist/orchestra. IFC have no control over performing artists and will substitute the performance should any changes out of our control be advised by the local venue.
