Silvester in Berlin: Opera and Music, 29 December 2018


Our New Year’s Eve opera and music tour includes three-nights in cultural Berlin allowing you to immerse yourself in Germany’s rich cultural history. Berlin is a vibrant, dynamic and cosmopolitan city, and is one of Europe’s most exciting destinations. The city offers a myriad of things to do and see, such as: interesting museums and art galleries; magnificent music and opera houses, fabulous and fascinating buildings such as the Reichstag Parliament and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden now re-opened having been closed since 2010. As part of your tour, you will see the city sights on a guided city tour and hear all about the history of Jewish Berlin on a walking tour. In your free time, enjoy the many museums on offer, do some shopping or simply relax and enjoy a coffee at one of Berlin’s many cafés. The tour highlight is a New Year’s Eve concert in the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. The Berlin Staatskapelle will play the New Year’s Eve concert.

Day 1

Your tour will start with an early morning flight to Berlin airport. Your flight with Aer Lingus departs Dublin airport at 07:00 and arrives Berlin airport 10:20. On arrival, meet your local guide for coach transfer to the 5* Kempinski Hotel Bristol where you are booked for three-nights on a bed and breakfast basis. (please note that flight times are subject to change at airlines discretion) Your hotel: 5* Hotel Bristol The Hotel Bristol Berlin is centrally located right on the famous Kurfürstendamm boulevard, with many attractions and restaurants within reach on foot. The Hotel offers air-conditioned modern Enjoy regional and international dishes in the popular Bristol Grill or dine in Restaurant Reinhard's, a smart brasserie offering cuisine inspired by French and Italian influences. Approximate arrival time at your hotel is 11.30am. On arrival, at your welcome, a welcome lunch will be served in ‘Reinhard’s’ Restaurant in the Hotel Bristol. After lunch, see the city sights on a guided city tour by coach. Your City Tour will take you past the famous sights of Berlin including; The Kurfürstendamm, the most popular boulevard in Berlin; The Emperor William Memorial Church, a monument to peace and reconciliation, and the internationally famous symbol of Berlin's desire to rebuild itself in the aftermath of the war; The Brandenburger Tor, (The Brandenburg Gate), Berlin's most famous landmark, The Reichstag; the seat of the German Bundestag or federal government and The Gendarmenmarkt, considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. The evening is at your leisure.

Day 2

Today, join your local guide for a 3-hour guided walking tour of Jewish Berlin, with lunch. Jewish life in 'Scheunenviertel' This morning, visit the Jewish quarter in Berlin and learn about the city’s Jewish heritage from the 17th century to today. Learn about past and present Jewish life and see the New Synagogue, one of Berlin’s most significant Jewish landmarks (from exterior as the Synagogue has announced it is closed for renovations until April 2018). See landmark sites like the “Block of Women” Memorial, the Old Jewish Cemetery, the New Synagogue and much more. Visit the Anne Frank Exhibition. After lunch, return to your hotel. Day 3

Free day to explore the sights of Berlin at your leisure. In the early evening, meet your local guide and fellow travellers for coach transfer to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden for the New Year’s Eve Concert 18:00 Silvester Concert in the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Conductor, Piano – Lahav Shani Trumpet – Till Bronner Staatskapelle Berlin Till Bronner Orchestra After the performance, a three-course dinner New Year’s Eve dinner will served in the Restaurant Aigner Coach transfer back to your hotel at the end of the evening.

Day 4

Full day at leisure for independent exploration. In the early evening, transfer with your local guide to Berlin airport for your return flight. Flight departs Berlin at 19:00 and arrives Dublin 20:20. (please note that flight times are subject to change at airlines discretion)
