Day 2

Today, see the famous Last Supper in The church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The church of Santa Maria delle Grazie is one of the most beautiful Italian churches and is typical of the late Gothic architecture of Milan. It was built by the Dominicans 1463-1482. The church is famous for the mural of the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting measures 450 × 870 centimeters and covers the back wall of the dining hall at the monastery. The Last Supper specifically portrays the reaction given by each apostle when Jesus said one of them would betray him. It was painted between 1495 and 1498. Hear from your guide how da Vinci painted it directly onto a dry wall, a choice that makes it extremely delicate. For this reason, entrance is limited to those who have pre-booked, with the numbers of people and duration of visits also strictly controlled. Each visiting group is only allowed to stand with the painting at any one time in a specially conditioned room for a maximum of 15 minutes. Please note that every day, "The Last Supper " draws hundreds of visitors and to gain entrance you must must book entrance tickets in advance of travel. Visits to The Last Supper" are extremnely popular, and it can be very difficult to get access. Entrance times are only confirmed to operators 12 weeks before the admission date. For this reason, while we have scheduled the entrance for this date, we may need to change the visit to an alternative day depending on access confirmation from the supplier. You have the remainder of the day to explore Milan independently. The city offer a myriad of things to do and see with a plethora of museums.
