Highlights

For most of the nineteenth century Paris was the opera capital of the world.  It was where the famous opera singers appeared and where some of the most spectacular productions were staged.  Today, Paris is still the home of grand opera. There is much to see and do in this wonderful city: Notre Dame, L’Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, Champs Élysées, Sacre Coeur, Eiffel Tower, grandiose Place de la Concorde and much, much more. The shops such as Galeries Lafayette and the smart arcaded rue de Rivoli are legendary.  And don‘t forget to visit the Louvre - home of the most well-known painting in the world, the Mona Lisa and over on the left bank you’ll find the Musée d’Orsay, home of the world’s finest Impressionist art collection. Paris was, is and always will be, something rather special.

Itinerary

Day 1

Your tour will start with a morning flight to Paris. Flying with Aer Lingus, flight departs Dublin at 09:50 and arrives into Paris airport at 12:35.  (please note that flight times are subject to change at airline’s discretion) 
 
On arrival in Paris, meet your local guide for private coach transfer to the 4* Mercure Paris Montmarte Sacre Coeur Hotel where you are booked for three-nights on a bed & breakfast basis.    
 
Your hotel:  
The Mercure Paris Montmartre Sacré Coeur is located in the district of Montmartre district of Paris. A buffet breakfast is served daily at the hotel. The hotel’s bar “L’Atelier” serves snacks and drinks. The Mercure Paris Montmartre Sacré Coeur is within walking distance of the stunning sights of the Montmartre district and is just 1.2 km from the Sacré Coeur and a short walk from the famous Montmartre Cemetery. The nearest Metro stop is Place de Clichy, 240 m away and provides direct access to the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysées.  
Enjoy lunch in the hotel on arrival and afterwards you have the afternoon and evening at your leisure.  Perhaps try dinner in your hotel or sample one of Paris’s many wonderful restaurants. 

Day 3

This morning, visit the impressive Musée d'Orsay, known for its Impressionist, post-Impressionist, and art nouveau works from 1848 to 1914.   
 
Housed in a former Beaux-Arts railway station and located on the banks of the Seine River, the Musée d'Orsay is a must-visit for those interested in art.   Immerse youself in the works of Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, and other masters of the 19th and 20th centuries. Works of note in the Musée d'Orsay include Degas' The Ballet Class and Van Gogh's Starry Night.  
 
 
Remainder of the day is at your leisure for independent sightseeing. 

Day 4

This morning, we take a walk around the Ile de la Cité and visit the Saint-Chapelle.  
 
A short walk from Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Sainte-Chapelle chapel is a jewel of Gothic art. It was built in the 12th century, upon the order of King Saint-Louis, to house Christ’s Crown of Thorns, now held at Notre-Dame. The upper chapel of the monument is covered in 600 m² of stained-glass windows, of which two thirds are authentic. It’s one of the most complete and remarkable sets of stained glass of this era. 
 
 
 
 
A departure lunch will be held at a local French bistro and afterwards, transfer to airport for return flight.  Flight departs Paris at 17:00 and arrives Dublin 17:40 (please note that flight times are subject to change at airline’s discretion)
